my new favorite hazelnut food!

Last night we had some new friends from our ward come over, and I was feeling ambitious in the cooking department. The results were amazing! I almost wish we didn't have company so I could be eating the leftovers today :)

Garlic Hazelnut Pilaf

1 cup uncooked rice
6 Tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup each finely chopped celery, onion, hazelnuts
1 large clove garlic minced

melt butter over medium heat, add the above ingredients, turning every once in a while to brown the rice.

When rice is mostly golden, add:

1/2 teaspoon marjoram
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 1/4 cups chicken broth

Bring to boil, then turn to low, cover and simmer until rice is no longer crunchy.

It's better than boxed pilaf. That is the only kind I've had up until last night, and I am never going back. Maybe next time I'll add some mushrooms.

Happy cooking!

Remind me to never read the recipes you post on your blog on an empty stomach. I am now off to get some hazelnuts!

...it's funny that the cake looked good to you, because, when Tony saw the picture, he said it didn't look very appetizing...but it was.

...the pokemon quilt was cute because of the wonky windmills. I'm thinking about doing one with JUST wonky windmills...and a Holly Hobby one. Does Holly Hobby predate you?
