lady's night

Cute Picture of the Day
Singing along with "dadadadada"

So, Lady's Night. That's right. This lady's night. Thursday night is my night! I've gotten the last two Thursdays off. And, oh boy! is it fun. Last night I joined our wards "unofficial" book club. It isn't a very well kept secret, though. There were more women at this meeting than at some of the Relief Society activities. I think we could have three pretty good book groups from the amount of women that were there. It was wonderful to see so many women sharing the books that they absolutely loved. (I need to be nicer about books that I don't approve of.) And just a fun environment to be surrounded by all these sweet ladies trying to enrich their lives and those around them through good literature. We're reading Persuasion for next month. I'm excited about this, because I simply adore Jane Austen's witty dialogue. She is a master of characterization. And it should be a pretty simple read.

Now, about next Thursday. I need to make a plan to keep up this Thursday night off thing going. Anybody up for a Mama Movie night?

When you said ladies night, I imagined Jon Lovitt singing it in the Wedding Singer... funny movie...
I can totally relate to the book snobbery... I can be difficult to remain objective in those circumstances....

Don't worry, I'm almost always the one who hates that book club selection. The truth is, it takes me a while to digest a book, process my feelings and thoughts about it, and until I do, I'm a little bit negative about it.
Add a low tolerance for predictable, feel-good books, and I have to make a huge effort not to make people cry about how mean everyone was about their book selections.

That's nice that so many women attend the book club. We sure had a small group in comparison in Ellensburg, didn't we? It was fun though. I am currently reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Have you read that one?
