the after room

So, Linda told me in secret that she was going to take our kids overnight for James's birthday.  We have never been without kids since I was pregnant with Lucy.

But how do you keep news like that from your best friend and snuggle buddy?

Apparently, I can't.

I tried.  I enlisted the help of a friend.  I came up with lots of fantastical ideas and adventures for the weekend.

It started to look somewhat expensive.  And I didn't want my spendthrift of a husband to divorce me over his birthday present.

That's when I asked him how much I should spend.  And then the secret was out.

And he was just as excited as I was.

We were emailing websites of hotels and b & b's and finally after agonizing for hours, we decided to just stay home and plan some fun dates and do some work to our needy house and yard.

And I decided to secretly makeover our bedroom.  Then our room would look all new like we were staying somewhere far away and plush and child-free.

And it stayed a secret until I needed help painting.

I've been dreaming about using our quilt as a starting point for a room that is "a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll" for a long time.  The quilt was given to us as a wedding present from my church mom.  And I absolutely adore it and all it's sweet love and country cuteness.  I don't feel like the room is done.  It's a lot of country and not too much rock and roll.  We need finish hanging up guitars.  And, I'm not sure what else.  But if we cleared off the desk, I think it could pass for a bed and breakfast :)

Here's the room:

I'm liking the reds! And love the quilt. You need a good picture or two to tie in the theme...but somehow Elvis and his guitar above your bed doesn't seem right. So don't use that one. :o)

It turned out great! ...and I love your wall color! I think it looks modern country - Nashville Rock Scene!

Love it - Beth you have such fun style and taste! How would you feel about a consultation in St. George UT? Our bedroom is among the MANY spaces in our house that needs a little BB type update :)

It's very cute. I agree that you need some bold graphic for the wall. I bet you will find the perfect thing. Great job.
