I decided to get a kitten. Do you see it there in the corner of the couch? Britton didn't get much closer than that to it, the entire time we had it.

I was afraid that Lucy was going to suffocate it in her nightgown, t-shirt, dress, blanket. Anything she could stick it in.
And I didn't take a picture of John with it, because someone would call animal control, or something, because he just liked to chase the poor kitten around, laughing madly, and pick it up with whatever bits of skin were handy. And then when the kitten was taken away, he would look for the litter box, food, or water to play with.
But James and I sure liked it. It had the best purr. Maybe we'll be cat people when the kids move out.
For now, somebody else has a cute little black kitten.

LOL! I always figured, "what do we need a pet for, we got kids!". They may do better with a kitten when they are a little bit older. :D
That is too funny. It was a good thought, but with little kids it would be a challenge. Go for fish or something. :)
In a few years you can be great cat people...and your kids will still adore a kitten then - just more nicely.
