nappy nap nap naaaaap!

I love naps! I love taking them. I love it when the girls sleep a bit. I like a break from James's infernal clacking at the keyboard occasionally. But this is the problem. Britton stays up until much too late when taking the nap. Should I just deal? I really love the quiet in the middle of the day. But there is definitely something to say for the going straight to sleep whenever we want to put her to bed (whether its 7:30 or 10). She's sleeping right now (and so is Lucy) Which is a really good way to feed my blog addiction. And I feel a little guilty about that, too. But, Oh the joy to get a few minutes without a child climbing on me!

No guilt at all! I love it when both the kids are down at the same time. It's doesn't happen too often yet, but it is getting better. It is awesome having time to yourself. I think it is a need too!

The kids go to bed at the same time, which may seem late to some but if they go down any earlier then they are up way too early. So right now they are both down by 9:30 and sleep through until 8:00.

Oh, I vote for naps. Every mom needs some me time in the middle of the day. And for heaven sakes don't feel guilty! such a sweet picture of Lucy!

Madeline has always been a napper (in fact she napped daily up until about 3 weeks ago when WE decided it was time to stop in preperation for kindergarten in the fall). We had the same issues with napping vs. staying up late and what we found worked best to correct the problem was a strict routine. We established what time was nap time(1pm) and what time was bed time(8pm). It didn't matter if she was tired, she was aloud to have books in bed, but she had to stay there. I won't lie, there were times in the beginning when she would be reading in bed at night for two hours before she would fall asleep. And sometimes this made me feel guilty. Eventually though she started falling asleep within 15 minutes of climbing in bed and now tells us when she is done reading so that we can go in and turn off her reading lamp. I find that consistency works best for us.

Good luck!

I love it when Lexi naps but I couldn't imagine her staying up until 10. That would be awful. So that is a tought choice.

I face the same thing. I am going to start teaching Brayden what quiet time is. He can play quietly in his room for 45 minutes or nap. As long as his is in his room then it works. Its what one of my Sisters do with her kids and its her life saver. She said that if she didn't have that 45 minutes then she would lose it on her 3 going on 4 kids.
