easter

I love Easter! The cake and candy and dresses. The family gatherings. The feasting and Egg hunts.

We had a great Easter this year. And we started a new tradition thanks to Laura. I was trying to find a way to teach my sweet little three-year-old about Christ's resurrection. And Resurrection rolls are a great way to do that! We took a marshmallow and laid it on a pillsbury crescent roll (before cooking). The marshmallow represents Jesus. We brushed butter on the marshmallow, just like the annointing oil placed on Christ. Cinnamon and sugar is sprinkled on the marshmallow, like the spices that were used to scent bodies, and finally our marshmallow was wrapped in the linens of our crescent roll. Then we put our rolls in the cave for three days (the oven for 10 minutes) and when the rolls come out, the marshmallow has disappeared! Gone to visit his friends.

The process seemed like it was going pretty well, until we told Britton she could eat her roll, and she was too concerned about what happened to her Jesus to eat it! Maybe she will understand a little better next time. The rolls were really yummy!

And to top off the day, for our entertainment Lucy started walking!

Lucy walking? I have missed out on so much! :) That's pretty funny about Britton and her marshmallow Jesus... It's something I can see hudson doing... he still thinks the Holy Ghost is under his shirt..

How fun! We'll have to do the rolls next year. That's a pretty spiffy bunny cake.
