visiting becca

Can you see Becca? I was truly awed and inspired by seeing the troops march out, as if they were only tiny pieces of a gigantic whole. There are so many men and women that work hard to keep our country safe. I'm scared for Becca. And it makes me that much more grateful for all of those people making sacrifices for our country.

Man, I was happy to see her! Isn't she cute in her cover (I'm learning Navy lingo, cover means hat for all of you that were as out of the loop as me)?

So happy I had to give her a kiss, too!

And she got to meet my only niece, her third niece Loralei (that's right, she was named after the Gilmore Girls, but Rori hasn't caught on yet).

We were thinking about going to Chicago, but she just wanted to spend some good quality time with the people she loved before she headed off on her next adventure. Carosels always constitute good quality time in my opinion.

And pedicures, too. Apparantly 8 weeks in boots is not very good for your feet. Becca had been looking forward to this for about a month.

Have you ever read "I can read with my eyes shut" by Dr. Seuss? Well, it makes my eyebrows really hot. And you should read it to your kids, too.

John loved Becca almost as much as before she left. She also left before he started teething, so he was a little grumpier, what with working on tooth numbers 4 and 5.

She may be all business when she's with the troops, but when she's away she's still the same Becca. She taught us all sorts of toe points and how to stand at attention properly, and how to roll your eyes at commanding officers after you have left the building. We had two sweet days with her and then she was off to her next destination: Fort Sam, Texas. She loves it there. It's sunny and in the 80's and 90's. She's in the minority (10% girls), and she's finally getting used to pt and isn't just a recruit anymore. I only wish we had gotten more time with her.

Next time: Chicago and all it's wind and whirl
